just finished the layout for ryan and the relics album 'any given night'. it was a long time coming so i'm glad to have it out of my possession and off to the printers. i love this cover. can't wait to see the finished product.

so it was because of this flyer:



that i got connected to a gig designing potential packaging for some flash drives that are going to be distributed throughout mexico. the first few i made were with the requisite lightning bolts the client suggested. then he let me run wild and the ones further down are my random ideas. what a fun project!

september updates!

so much has happened in the last two months, i haven't even had time to sit down and post it here!

first things first, got the art show at thunderbird together - lots of last minute painting, planning and promo! i got some fabulous little promo cards printed at overnightprints.com (i love them! so cheap! highly recommend!) which i sent out to all of the art venues and publications around town along with leaving them in various places around town. here's the postcard:

so i'm putting together this new logo for the band elephant m based on an old old painting i made of a cannibal ice cream sandwich man. this is the initial stage of the logo. i need to edit together a nice black and white version too.

so mom emailed me a picture of her very first painting tonight. it began as a painting of poppies - pretty impressionistic! she said it was very cathartic. that's what i'm talking about.

simple pleasures or: the boys have a giant new toy.

mom and dad came out to austin last weekend and towed along with them a giant cat tower for my two 'children' jimmy (the redhead) and steven (the brunette). the cat tower comes as a generous donation from corwin and violet who had apparently come into the possession of two of these contraptions. the boys fell instantly in love and now i have less chance of kitties running underfoot and on top of the desk while i'm trying to get some painting done.

so my little black cat steven was posing for me, begging to have his picture taken the other day so i grabbed the camera and snapped about twenty pictures. i have to share these photos. he is such a sweet boy!

sxszzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

wow, what a whirlwind of a week and a half! sxsw has officially ended for me with the dropping off of my dear friend sean at the airport this morning. yesterday we had a good conversation about the music industry and graphic design and it helped me get out of the freewheeling sxsw mindframe and back to reality.

spent the week watching sxsw films, silkscreening white rhino's self titled album, drinking beer, trying to catch shows, working on my hyatt guitar installation and attempting to sleep. the guitar should be finished on wednesday before i leave town. also designed the album for mike and the moonpies new album 'catalina'. i'll post it next time but, in the meantime, buy one of the records!

this wednesday i'll be flying out to los angeles to hang out with my old roommate/great friend chase and his girlyfriend. michael's band white rhino will be meeting me out there on their tour and we're going to drive up the coast to san francisco where i'll get to see the one and only jess young. i can't wait!
